Why I chose a holiday on the Gold Coast
The Gold Coast is located in the State of Queensland on the eastern coast of Australia. This region boasts warm summers, mild winters and about 300 days of glorious sunshine each year. Between the wonderful climate and all of the activities found in this region, the Gold Coast is a great vacationing spot any time of the year. Here’s a short list of things you could see and do when taking a holiday on Australia’s Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast of Australia features pristine beaches and warm waters. Experienced surfers often enjoy the challenging waves at Kirra Beach, Currumbin Alley or Snapper Rocks. Beginning surfers can hone their skills on the gentler waves off of Surfers Paradise.
Many vacationers enjoy scuba diving around the wreck of the Scottish Prince just off of Main Beach. Snorkelers have the chance to observe native sea life, such as the wobbegong sharks and moray eels off of Kirra Beach and the sea turtles near the Gold Coast seaway.
If you prefer to stay on top of the water, you can take a calm cruise along the Broadwater and the surrounding islands on Gold coast holidays. Or you could take an aquatic safari via an amphibian bus or kayak. Some areas offer white water rafting when the conditions are right.
Explore the Gold Coast Hinterland
The Hinterland is a breath-taking area full of national parks surrounded by high mountains. You have the opportunity to walk through ancient rainforests, swim in crystal clear mountain streams or picnic alongside native animals, such as koalas, wallabies, kangaroos, tropical birds and iguanas. Hiking enthusiasts can enjoy a bushwalking trek that takes you underneath waterfalls and past ancient rock formations.
Go to a Theme Park
Give your kids a break from nature by visiting one of the family-friendly theme parks in the area. Movie World offers movie-related rides and one of the best roller coasters on the Gold Coast. You can also go behind the scenes and watch movies being made.
Dreamworld offers more traditional theme park rides like bumper cars and kid-friendly roller coasters. You can cool off on warmer days in White Water World, which is Dreamworld’s water park. Another water park, Wet ‘n’ Wild might be a better choice if you go in the winter months because they heat up the water.
For a relatively small area, the Gold Coast has a lot of events. Not only is the Quiksilver Pro ASP World Tour held here annually, but they also host horse races, marathons and motorsport events as well. If you visit in August, you could attend the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival. This event features great global menus and wine tasting events for the adults.
Shop Until You Drop
Visit the Carrara Market to buy everything from fresh produce to arts and crafts. You can buy homemade cheeses and view the handiwork of local artists at the Tamborine Mountain Arts and Crafts Market, or pick up a one-of-a-kind gift at the Broadbeach Arts and Crafts Market.
